Here’s a lesson on How to play Manic Depression by Jimi Hendrix. It was also covered by Stevie Ray Vaughan. The unusual thing about this song is that it’s written in 3/4 (just like waltz). Also Jimi introduces “scat singing” which is playing the same melody on the guitar as he sings the vocal line. All in all it’s a great song. Check it out!

Alright, here’s the Solo section from My Lovely Man by RHCP. John was heavily influenced by Jimi Hendrix and you can hear that in a lot of his solos. The first part of the solo starts off with some unison bends, that Jimi used quite a lot in his playing. The second part is just crazy use of blues and minor pentatonic scales in Hendrix’s fashion as well. All in all it’s a great solo, check it out!
